Ed Chappelle: Family Reunion
And God shall wipe away all the tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things have passed away.
~Revelation 21:4 KJV
As I arrived at the family reunion, my cousin beckoned, “Hey, little Eddie, come join our softball game.”
I didn’t appreciate the nickname back then, but now I wish I could return to those days.
Our family reunion consisted of fun, food, and adventure. Time passed so quickly that day that I wanted to slow the sun from dipping below the horizon. My parents packed the car, and a tear escaped my eye.
Can you recall a day when your family had a reunion? Do you reminisce about the love, smiles, and laughter that filled the air? Those memories are priceless, and time passes so quickly. Twenty-four hours doesn’t capture enough for me. As each year passes, these memories become dearer, especially my thoughts of the loved ones who have passed on.
God promises a family reunion that will take place in the clouds that will last for eternity. We will celebrate the good things the Lord has given us, and we won’t have to stop. On that day, the family reunion will be otherworldly as we once again enjoy the fellowship of loved ones and friends as we bask in God’s glorious presence.
For the Lord, Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus, we shall always be with the Lord.
~1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 ESV
Are you ready for this family reunion? If you’ve asked Jesus Christ to be your Savior, you are prepared for this heavenly reunion. Does Jesus live within your soul? He comes into our souls only when we invite Him to be our Savior, so ask Him today. Jesus Christ died on the cross, rose from the dead to forgive us of our sins, and is preparing a place in Heaven for all who believe. He is the One we will meet in the clouds. Oh, what a glorious day that will be!
Are you ready to meet Jesus Christ at the family reunion in Heaven?
Lord Jesus, I want to be ready for the family reunion in Heaven. Make me ready to meet You in the clouds of glory. I ask You to come into my heart and be my Savior. Forgive my sins and cleanse my soul. Help me reflect You to this dark world. Guide me, fill me, and use me each day to advance Your kingdom. Amen.
