Glenda Shouse: The Friend Request
I do not call you servants (slaves) any longer, for the servant does not know
what his master is doing (working out). But I have called you My friend,
because I have made known to you everything that I have heard from My Father.
~John 15:15 AMP
Sending friend requests on social media is important to us. It’s in our nature to want to be liked and accepted by others. This is one way we seek to fulfill that desire.
Friends are treasured gifts from God. As we become friends, we get to know each other. Whether it is by reading social media posts, or by spending time together, we become acquainted. From there we build lasting relationships.
By listening to our friends, and by being available to them in their time of need, our intimacy level grows. As we pray for and with them, a bond of trust forms. Likewise, we grow closer to Jesus as we see our prayers answered, because we know He has been the One who has cared, and been available to meet our needs.
In John 15:15, Jesus calls us “friends.” Our loving Savior offers us the most sacred friendship in all eternity. He loved us so much that He laid down His life for us.
Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.
~John 15:13 NKJV
That’s the friendship we need the most. Friends may come and go, but friendship with Jesus Christ lasts forever.
Have you accepted Jesus’ friend request? You can do so by inviting Him into your heart and receiving His gift of eternal life. In Romans, we read how to accept His friend request:
That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart
that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
For with the heart one believes unto righteousness and with the mouth
confession is made unto salvation.
~Romans 10:9-10 NKJV
This is certainly the most important friend request you will receive. Your life hangs in the balance. Say “yes” to Jesus. Ask Him to be your Lord and Savior and He will be your closest friend.
Will you accept Jesus’ friend request?
Father God, thank You for sending Your one and only Son, Jesus Christ, to open the way for me to become Your child. I confess with my mouth, “Jesus Christ, be the Savior of my life today.”
In Jesus’s Name, Amen.

So glad I said yes to Him. There is no greater friend. Thanks Glenda!
Yes, amen.
Hey Glenda, I love this devotion! Jesus Christ is our best friend. Thank you for this important reminder.
Thanks, Diane.
Great post! I think many can relate to your post as well as those who don’t know Jesus. Everyone wants a friend, Jesus is the best friend we can ever have.
Thanks Stephanie, yes He is.
Thanks Glenda for the reminder. Especially on days when I feel I have no friends. Jesus will always be my friend.
Yes, He loves us with an everlasting love and will always be there for us.
Lovely post, Glenda. I love your analogy to social media. Others may unfriend or unfollow us, but Jesus is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. He always understands and forgives when we make mistakes. There isn’t a better friend than Jesus. May those who don’t know Him invite Him into their hearts today. 🙏🏻❤️
Thank you Karen. II agree He is our friend who will never leave us or forsake us.
Glenda, I love this devotion. It is so true. Jesus is our closest friend. I thought of other friends I had met at a conference and then developed my friendship with them via Facebook. They are now forever friends. I thank God for them and for the ones outside social media, as well. God has sent wonderful friends to me. I am enjoying getting to know all of you.
Evelyn, I agree,Jesus is our dearest friend. I also thank Him for all the wonderful friends He has brought into my life.
Thank you Mr. J. D.
Ms. Glenda and Ms. Diane, Loved this post. The fellowship and friendship among Christians is so important.
I agree, J.D.. Fellowship is important. Just think of why Jesus frequented Martha, Mary, and Lazarus’s home. They welcomed him and fellowshipped with him. ❤️❤️❤️
