Creation
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
~Genesis 1:1 NKJV
I’ve been awestruck about creation as far back as my memory goes.
The first time I thought about giving my life to God was in college as I sat under a gorgeous cave ledge in a forest. I decided to major in natural resources, but my fascination with creation continued way beyond class time. I spent every opportunity experiencing the nature that surrounded me—hiking, visiting the various gardens, walking the campus trails.
Creation drew me to God. I knew the complexity of nature didn’t just happen—a divine Creator must be involved—and I searched for Him in the Bible. So, it seemed natural to call Him Father God. Since He was good at fathering creation, why couldn’t I call Him Father? Soon after developing a relationship with Father God, a student introduced me to Jesus, and I committed my life to Him. I felt complete.
The beginning of my discovery of God and Jesus centered around God’s creation. It’s the proof I needed to see that God was real. And if He is real, then His messages in the Bible and all of what’s written about my Savior must be true, too.
Even now, God’s creation plays a large part in my life. When my husband and I purchased land, we filled it with fruit trees, roses, pretty flowers and plants, bird and deer feeders, a veggie garden, and a koi pond to add to the awesome forest that graced the backyard. When we bring home a new flower, fish, or plant, we thank God for letting us discover it.
We enjoy God’s creation so much that when we vacation, we stay at a hotel that employs a master gardener who has created a beautiful flower oasis, complete with bunnies. We spend most of our time watching the bunnies and strolling the garden paths, always delighted to find a new variety of flower the gardener has acquired.
God’s divine handiwork is evident in all He has made. His creation is beautiful and complex—for instance, the honeybee’s eyes and hive habits are exquisitely intricate. Additionally, the wonders around provide evidence that our Creator exists.
Father God loves us so much that He sent His Son so we can live eternally. Jesus Christ died on the cross and rose from the dead to pay for our sins, therefore we can experience life fully, and then live in heaven with Him. I await the day!
The final two chapters of Revelation teach us much about God’s heavenly abode.
And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb.
~Revelation 22:1 NKJV
I am so thankful that God decided to create a more glorious and gorgeous home than we experience here on earth. We can only go there if we’ve put our faith in Jesus Christ. Salvation makes us complete, and gives us peace.
Friend, let’s get busy sharing how we can see God exists by viewing His creation. God entrusts us with souls, so let’s also share the Gospel message. That way they can also experience a fulfilling life here, and eternity with God in heaven.
Share ways that creation points you to an awareness of the Creator.
Heavenly Father, thank You being the wonderful Creator. Thank You also for sending Your Son Jesus Christ to be my Savior. Amen.
