Worth the Wait
ANSWERED PRAYERS
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
~2 Peter 3:9 NIV
Sometimes, we receive sudden answers to prayers. Other times, we have to look back to know the answer. In retrospect, the slowly unfolding events of our lives blossom into breathtaking answers to prayer. This unveils the heart of the Father—a beauty that is worth the wait.
While we love those split-second answers, it can be deeply satisfying to reflect back. When we do, we can clearly see the masterful hand of God working through people and circumstances over time.
REMAIN STEADFAST
We purpose to remain at rest in His hand. We become familiar with His heart, His voice, and His ways. Thus, we recognize His fingerprints that craft His answers. We recognize His workmanship. We see the details of His care and receive His answers. These are not mere coincidences but gifts from our adoring Father.
It is such a simple thing but so important. Look back now and then and acknowledge God’s answers. Recognize His faithfulness and thank Him for them.
This strengthens our faith for the challenges of today and tomorrow. His unwavering faithfulness guides our yesterdays and todays.
LOOK TO GOD’S WORD
Scripture offers encouragement: “But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing” (James 1:4 KJV).
Even in our waiting, God is at work within us, maturing and perfecting us. He doesn’t waste a second. God has a plan. When He reveals it, we will know it was well worth the wait.
Are you struggling with waiting to see evidence of God’s answer? Look back. Look for His handiwork in Your life. Then rest assured. If God has made a promise, He will be faithful again in His perfect timing.
Share a time God showed you that the fulfillment of His promise was worth the wait.
Father God, whether suddenly or over a season of time, I acknowledge that You are faithful. You see me and hear my cries, and You answer me with compassion. Mature me for Your glory and my blessing as I wait. In Jesus’ name, amen.
