Walking Through Your Miracle
Expectations
God is walking through your miracle–if you only believe.
If we’re fearful about danger nipping at our heels as the way forward leaves us pleading for another way out, I come bearing good news. We serve a God who still saves His people from impossible circumstances. He makes a way in our desert where none existed before. He is the God of miracles.
Crossing the Red Sea
And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground, and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.
~Exodus 14:22 KJV
I have always pictured the children of Israel triumphantly marching across the parted waters, joyfully singing praises to God at the miraculousness of their deliverance. However, the only ones who experienced joy at the time of the crossing were those who wholeheartedly believed God would keep the waters parted until they safely reached the other side.
To those with even a shred of doubt, it would have been terrifying to take steps forward while simultaneously fearing the walls of water might crash down on them. Both those with much faith and those with little faith crossed over the sea on the same path that day, but it was their level of faith that determined if the experience was one of joy or horror.
Faith Verses Fear
Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love.
~1 John 4:18 NLT
As we face problems head-on that seemingly have no natural solution, our powerful God already has a miraculous plan in place. We can cry out to Him. Then, as our miracle appears and the winds begin to blow, we can ask Him for the gift of faith to trust Him and not be afraid.
God does not hold back the waters to lure us to a drowning death. His mighty hand of love and rescue holds back the waves to give us safe passage. He loves us with a perfect love, so we can trust Him.
Choices
We have a choice. When we reflect on difficult situations, what we will take away will depend on our perspective going in and what we truly believe about God. We can worshipfully throw the full weight of our trust upon God, or we can cling to fear. One choice will lead to victory, exuberant joy, and a powerful testimony.
What do you believe about God? Will your choice leave you feeling defended and treasured or defenseless and traumatized? It’s the same path, but our belief about God will change and color our experience.
What steps can you take to trust God for the miraculous?
Father God, strengthen me. Go before me. I leave doubt and the fear of bondage behind. Part the waters. And may praise be on my lips as I choose to trust You and step into my miracle. In Jesus’ name, amen.
