VineWords Newsletter: November 2019
Hello Friends,
While I was attending a university, a student I met was a guitarist. He would perform at The Student Center. His favorite song was an adaptation of 1 Chronicles 16:20. As he strummed the melody on his guitar, I was impressed not by his musical talents, which were superb, but with his devotion to Jesus, whom I did not yet know. As he sang, his focus on his unseen Lord was intense. This drew me to desire to know this friend of his named Jesus. To this day, I can hear my friend’s melody playing in my head, and I can recall his bowed posture, with head lifted, and his eyes closed, as he gave honor to the King of the Universe. My friend consistently demonstrated his deep reverence of the Lord Jesus, whom he knew intimately.
Give unto the LORD the glory due his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.
1 Chronicles 16:29 KJV
Friend, your worship of Jesus is powerful. I was won by a genuine believer and by other believers who were not afraid to demonstrate their love of the Lord. By your example of serving in spirit and in truth, you might accomplish this too. John 4:23 KJV reads,
But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
John 4:23 KJV
The season of giving thanks is upon us. As we celebrate Thanksgiving, and all this month, let’s remember to count our blessings—friends, and family, but especially our Lord Jesus Christ. Let’s prioritize Him, for it is Jesus Christ who gives purpose to our days. It is He who loves us enough that He paid the ultimate sacrifice to purchase our salvation. Now that’s something to be thankful about!
Let John 4:23 and 1 Chronicles 16:20 be our November prayer, that we will worship the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, in a tangible way that will help our friends, both the saved and the seekers, to be open to the Gospel message.
Since our last newsletter, we have been adding lots of content. Every Wednesday, a devotion is being published, either mine or a Contributor’s. Our dear brother, Victor Marcos, has been translating devotions into Spanish. I have posted Angela’s Apple, in honor of his dear wife, and I will add others soon.
AND NOW, the winner of last month’s contest via random drawing for a sterling silver bracelet is (Drum Roll Please!)… AMANDA (MANDY) PRIDDY
For this month’s give-away, your name will be entered for every comment you leave on the site. So, this means that if you comment five times, you get five entries; if you comment eight times, you get eight entries, and so on. There is no need to email. I’ll just watch the Comments section. The winner will be chosen by a random drawing.
Thanks for being part of the VineWords Family. We appreciate you!
Shalom,
