And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross! Therefore, God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name.

If there is anything I have learned over the past few years, it is that the rewards of testing are often promotion.

The Test

We can see this principle clearly throughout scripture. Even Jesus was tested in the desert before He began his ministry. He was tested again in Gethsemane before His crucifixion. And after His death, He was raised to the highest place.

We can all relate to seasons of testing or difficult challenges. I have been walking through a long, hard, and exhausting season of testing. But in His kindness, the Lord has spoken to my heart, telling me that He is preparing me for promotion. I have absolutely no idea what that will look like, but God does not lie. Therefore, I trust that He will promote me at the appointed time.

There is nothing special about me. These same principles can apply to everyone. When we obey, God will reward our testing with promotion. Each time we respond to challenge and suffering with faith and faithfulness, we are one step closer to our promotion.

The Reward

When the promotion comes, we will see that it has been worth it all. Actually, when we finally see the rewards of testing and promotion in their fullness, we will be flabbergasted at how little God asked of us in order to receive so much.

At the right time, I, the Lord, will make it happen quickly.

God delights and sings over you. Even now, He is preparing to promote and reward you. The struggle will be worth it all.

Keep going. God sees your struggle, hard work, and faithfulness.

Father, help me to be faithful through this difficult season. Help me to keep my attitude in check and my focus on You. At the appointed time, bless me to receive the rewards of testing. In Jesus’ name, amen.
