A Thanksgiving to Bond

A Thanksgiving to Bond

VineWords Devotions and More

Because of Izzy’s advanced age, we had not prayed for healing—instead, we had asked God for “one more good year.” A year and a half later, she was still with us. God had exceeded what we asked for, and we had learned to be thankful for things we once took for granted….

Dancing Shoes

VineWords Devotions and More

Pretend you’re a little girl, age four-and-a-half. Yes, “and-a-half” is important when you’re that age. At this time, you are learning to love Jesus. You love to run, bounce on couches, and play bowling with Daddy where you and your brother get to be the pins and a giant bean bag is the bowling ball. Yes, you’re an active girl. Your hair is golden with hints of red and your locks are shoulder-length. You are taking dancing classes. You learn to pirouette, point your toes, jump, and twirl… The teacher who you’re learning from loves Jesus. Then it happens…

Through many hours of writing and several boxes of tissues, items were scratched off my list, one-by-one. By the end of two weeks, my back pain disappeared. This exercise forced me to understand the person who caused me pain, and…

Pocket Full of Promises

Pocket Full of Promises

VineWords Devotions and More

Once inside, Roland told Anna about his salvation experience of 1942. He had turned his life over to the Lord while serving in the Armed Forces, during World War II. For eight years, until he came home, he had written Bible verses while in the barracks. He’d slip a verse or two into the pockets of his uniform daily. When danger loomed, he’d touch his pocket and recharge by remembering the verse. He didn’t know what the outcome of the war would be, but he knew his salvation was secured as was his eternal soul. …

As we reach the summit, Beloved encourages us to talk to Him. Our Bridegroom wants to hear our voice! He meets every need, never being embarrassed by the secrets we share—those soul injuries no one knows about. He dances upon Bether, which means “division,” chasing away every shadowy thought by the light of His Word. …

Through the Fire

Through the Fire

So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world. ~1 … Continue reading →

A New Family

A New Family

A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. God sets the lonely in families. ~Psalm 68:5-6 NIV After my horse Frank’s mother died, he was very lonely. He needed a new family. Frank and his mother had spent ten years together and formed their own family unit. Now, she was gone, and he was alone. He moped about for weeks and seemed to lose all interest in life. When let out of the … Continue reading →

Cheer Up the Lonely

Cheer Up the Lonely

Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you. ~James 1:27 NLT Their faces told their stories. Some had adapted well, but loneliness ate at others. Some resided there because family members didn’t want to care for them. Doing so would have inconvenienced their lives. Others had outlived all their family members and had none to care for them. And still … Continue reading →
