Follow the Star

The Magi’s perseverance paid off. To bask in the presence of the Messiah, relieved their belief didn’t result in a fool’s errand, had to encourage and built their faith. Their journey home was likely a joyous one, as they shared heartfelt insights about King Jesus, and the hope of what He would accomplish. …

Through many hours of writing and several boxes of tissues, items were scratched off my list, one-by-one. By the end of two weeks, my back pain disappeared. This exercise forced me to understand the person who caused me pain, and…

Irene Wintermyer: Mental Madness

VineWords Devotions and More

During the drive home, the Holy Spirit planted a word on my heart—run the race set before you. At first, I wondered what this verse in Hebrews had to do with my lack of inner peace, until one of my favorite Bible stories came to mind, the story of Joseph. …

Irene Wintermyer: Winning Wars

I’ve played this game for a little over a year and found it parallels to my Christian walk. I may not have titans to deal with, but there’s an unseen battle going on in the spiritual realm, one that places humanity in the center of its battlefield every day. …

Irene Wintermyer: Tough Terrain

VineWords Devotions and More

Initially, we found the path effortless. But the longer we trekked, the more difficult it became. The steep terrain and high altitude slowed our pace considerably. During a rest break we contemplated turning around, when a pair of elderly gentlemen descended the path. One shared he recently recovered from a stroke and the other said not to give up and stay the course, what waited at the mountaintop was worth the climb. Their encouragement and inspiring story providing the needed motivation to continue forward. …

The Fruit of Faithfulness

The Fruit of Faithfulness

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. ~Galatians 5:22-23a CSB “Come say ‘Hello’ to Mary.” Billy smiled as I approached their table. I was about to see the fruit of faithfulness.   I was sure she did not remember me. Her brain tumor had taken this once-talented artist and turned her into a shadow of her previous self. But as I greeted Mary, she shared the same gracious smile … Continue reading →

KITE TROUBLE Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. ~Psalm 1:1-2 ESV Don’t crash but listen was a lesson Jeffery learned the hard way.  The March day was brisk and windy, making it perfect for flying a kite.  “Dad, can you … Continue reading →
