Spin Me, Daddy
A time to weep, and a time to laugh; A time to mourn, and a time to dance.
~Ecclesiastes 3:4 KJV
Spinning our young kids in a circle on the kitchen floor was a common occurrence. Our youngest daughter would say, “Spin me, Daddy!” The process was simple. By placing my hand behind her bent knee as she lay on the floor, I could spin her around fast. She loved spinning.
As she grew older, we danced on that same kitchen floor, and I twirled her around after she asked for a “spin.” When we square danced, I liked throwing in an extra spin whenever I could because she liked it.
Escorting her onto an outdoor deck on her wedding day was an honor between father and daughter. At the reception, the new bride and groom stepped up for the first dance. While dancing to “Butterfly Kisses,” she leaned in and whispered, “Spin me, Daddy!” My heart overflowed with emotions as I twirled her around in her wedding gown. I am adding another memory to my treasure house of special moments with her.
Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb.
~Revelation 19:9 KJV
Does God dance? I expect He does, and that He treasures those special memories equally. I could see God joyfully dancing with David as the ark of the covenant returned to its rightful place.
The Bible promises a great wedding ceremony for believers, who are known as the Bride of Christ. It will be a time of feasting and, hopefully, dancing, as is the custom at a Jewish wedding. With all the celebratory joy going on, I hope I can say, “Spin me, Daddy,” when it comes time for the bridal dance with the Father.
Ask God for guidance throughout your life. Look at life as if you are dancing with God.
Father, as I walk through life, I ask You to dance with me. Amen.
