So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord.” But he said to them, “Unless I see in his hands, the mark of the nails, and place my finger into the mark of the nails, and place my hand into his side, I will never belief.”
– John 20:25 ESV
Seeing with the eyes of faith can prove challenging.
Seeing bald eagles not only fulfilled one of my goals but also allowed me to witness a part of their comeback. But my seeing them for myself had no impact on their amazing recovery. The reports of increasing numbers showed the results.
Then he said to Thomas . . . “Do not disbelieve, but believe.” Thomas answered him, “My Lord and my God.”
– John 20:27b – 28 ESV
Do you experience times when you can’t check the box because you need to see things with the eyes of faith? Jesus reminded Thomas of the great blessing for those who believe by faith: “Jesus said to him, ‘Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen, and yet they have believed'” (John 20:29 ESV).
What are some ways you can do a better job of walking by faith?
Thank You, Lord, for giving me faith to believe in You even though I have yet to see You. And in my time of doubt, help my unbelief. In Jesus’ name, amen.
