Nourished by Faith Words
If you instruct the brethren in these things, you will be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished in the words of faith and of the good doctrine which you have carefully followed.
~1 Timothy 4:6 NKJV
Paul wanted him to remember when he had been nourished by faith words.
The table is loaded with an abundance of food. Family get-togethers, holidays, or Sunday lunch brings out our best dishes–the turkey or ham cooked to perfection, creamy mashed potatoes, and veggies. And then, of course, a variety of desserts tempt us. All prepared to nourish our bodies and share with others.
But we also need faith words to nourish us. God’s Word provides the spiritual nourishment we need daily to grow in our spiritual walk. Paul entreats Timothy to remember how others have nourished him with faith words. Paul himself had poured out love and instruction to this young man and encouraged him to minister to others.
We all have a sphere of influence to share what God has planted in our hearts–family, friends, and social media. Our comments, smiles, and words of encouragement can nourish them.
A man has joy by the answer of his mouth and a word spoken in due season how good it is.
-Proverbs 15:23 NKJV
We may not know the impact our words have on others, but by faith, we can trust the Lord to bring good from all we share.
Ask God to prepare the hearts of those around you to receive the good news of the gospel.
Loving Father, thank You for filling me with Your word and the Holy Spirit. Guide me in sharing what You have planted and nurtured in my heart. In the name of Jesus, amen.
