Milk Mission
What man of you, having a hundred sheep. if he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open country, and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing.
~Luke 14:4-5a ESV
Little Suzie skipped up the street on a milk mission, unaware of the traffic that whizzed past her.
Breakfast Table
With the cereal bowls on the breakfast table, John and Cindy Smith discovered they had no milk. They looked at each other as if to say, “How did you let this happen?” Soon, they argued, causing their voices to rise.
Little five-year-old Suzie, whose nickname was “Little Lamb,” decided to solve the problem since the shouting hurt her little ears. She went outside, ready to get milk from the store. Her parents were too busy blaming each other to notice their daughter was no longer in the house.
Missing Lamb
Frustrated, John said to his wife, “Little Lamb and I will get the milk.” He called out to Suzie, but she was nowhere around. Reality set in. He realized his little lamb was missing. John raced outside and searched the apartment complex’s parking lot. When his search revealed nothing, he headed to the main road.
John raced up the street like an Olympian running for gold. Suddenly, he saw a man carrying a small child–his daughter!
Rejoicing
The man shouted, “Is this your child?”
“Yes,” John said.
Tears ran down his face as he embraced Suzie. “Little Lamb, I’m glad you’re safe. Why did you leave?”
“Daddy, I was on a milk mission. But I lost my way. I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay. I love you so much. Let Mommy and Daddy get your milk.”
“But, you’re shouting.”
“We will fix that too.”
Family Reunion
John and Suzie returned home. John thanked God for protecting Suzie from the dangers of this world. Cindy met them at the door, and they sat at the breakfast table.
Suzie prayed, “Thank you, Jesus, for protecting me and showing my Daddy where I was.”
After that, they ate breakfast joyfully, for their little sheep had been found.
And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, “Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that was lost.
