Martin Wiles: Friends
You walked into my life—
An angel of mercy,
A guardian of light
For a darkened soul.
You took my hand
And led me into joy.
You lifted my heart
To an enduring height.
The plain upon which we walk
Is not lightly traversed—
Only few find its treasure,
But we travel undaunted.
Now we two are one,
Entwined in mangled cords,
A bond formed with love
That time cannot concede.
As the wind is free,
But bound among the twines,
So, our spirits are free,
Yet fixed in friendship’s web.
