The Master Fixer
I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.
~Psalm 121:1-2 NSV
For months I had been putting out a lot of fires. Every day I woke up to a new crisis.
Then I experienced a few days of a lull when I could finally resume my desired activities. That was when the flood hit— literally. Once again, my plans were destroyed, along with our belongings and our remodeled home. Immediately, I called my husband, and then I asked some close friends to pray for our family. I knew this problem was too big for us to handle on our own.
My husband rushed home from work and called in the pros. He knew what to do and who to contact. I would have called a plumber, but my husband knew to call the sewer guy. I didn’t even know there was such a person. For that alone, I was grateful. He quickly discerned the likely cause, and with this knowledge, he knew how to proceed.
Unto You I lift up my eyes, O You who dwell in the heavens… Our eyes look to the LORD our God.
~Psalm 123:1, 2b
While we waited for the sewer guy to fix our newest crisis, I found comfort in knowing that not all was lost. Although the floor and walls were ruined, we still had a house. I also drew comfort in knowing that although we were in a tough season, these problems would prove to be temporary. Tough times do not last forever.
Finally, after a long ordeal, the sewer guy finished, and we had working faucets again. What a relief. I knew I would never take indoor plumbing for granted.
The Lord is there for us in any crisis. He waits for us to hand our problems to Him, especially those that are spiritual rather than situational. God is the Master Fixer. He knows exactly what our problems are and how to fix them. After all, He is the Maker of the Universe, so in Him, we can rest securely even when troubles abound because He knows what to do. Trust Him. He is a prayer away, and He is ready to help you with any challenge you may face.
What recent challenge has God helped you with?
Heavenly Father, thank You for being there to fix my problems no matter how big or small. In Your arms always and forever, I will be. Amen.
