Praying Friends
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
~Colossians 2:6-7 NIV
I shared with my friends my concern that I occasionally miss times meditating on the Word of God.
One friend shared a scripture that spoke to me, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7 NIV). Then she prayed with me as the group agreed with her intercession. I felt the prayers!
Peace came over me and I let go of my worries, knowing God was willing to carry my burdens. I knew my spiritual life had been under attack and I had to change my mindset. I needed to ground myself in the Word of God, knowing that eventually, my emotions would catch up with my decision to follow Christ Jesus and to believe He was looking out for me. I didn’t worry about deadlines or letting people down. I left all my worries at the feet of Jesus and prioritized my times with Him.
God says in His Word, “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness” (Colossians 2:6-7 NIV). I found good, even in the midst of turmoil, and as God showed me, that He was still in control peace washed over my soul. I am profoundly thankful that I have a God who takes care of my needs and that I have friends who pray the Word.
God is good and He is faithful. Always.
Share a time a friend’s prayers, or your own prayers, have made an impact in your life.
Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me friends who know Your Word, and who uphold me in prayer. Help me in my quest to know You with my whole heart. In Jesus’ precious name. Amen.
