Man on the Moon
When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon, and the stars, which You have ordained, what is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him? ~Psalm 8:3 NKJV
For thousands of years, we looked up at you and admired the beauty that shines from you. We thanked you for your light, which helped us see as darkness crept in and took over the path we walked. We longed to put a man on the moon.
Facing the Unknown
We have written songs about you, written stories about you, and yes, even written poems about you. Yet, this never seemed to be enough of a tribute to the beauty God created when He made you.
As we looked upon you, we found you mysterious, which drew us even more. We desired to be with you. We fell in love, and our hearts craved to see and touch your surface. Therefore, on July 16, 1969, we left our home to visit you—the one who shines light into our darkness.
Conquering the Unknown
We reached our destination on July 20, 1969. For the first time in human history, we touched you. Although your surface was dusty and cold, the beauty we glimpsed of you in the night sky from back home didn’t compare to the incredible beauty we beheld the moment we first stepped on your surface.
We had finally reached out, conquering the fear of impossibilities, and touched the one we had admired since we first laid our eyes on you.
Think of some fears you need to conquer. Then, trust God to help you face them.
Father, I entrust my fears to You, and I am awed by Your greatness and the wonder of what You have made. Guide my steps to accomplish Your plan for me. Amen.
