Lost
I took a small break and a deep breath as I looked at the mall map, searching for that circled star that would clarify my location, but I was lost.
I had walked in circles, looking for the one store that was the purpose of my trip. Somehow, I had become twisted and distracted, and before realizing it, my quick stop at the mall ticked toward a second hour.
Nagging questions swirled in my mind: “Had the store moved? Had it closed? Or was I truly lost?”
The same is true in life. In our living and striving, we get tired and feel lost. We wander in and out of overwhelm. Nagging questions swirl in our minds. That’s when we need to take a break, breathe, and ask God to show us the circled star showing where we are.
Once I stopped to study the mall map that day, I confirmed where I was in relation to where I intended to go. The path to the store then became easy.
When we feel overwhelmed or lost in life, we should stop, be still, and lean into the only one who can refresh, strengthen, and turn us in the right direction.
God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.
Psalm 46:1 NLT
We can find a quiet space and invite God to speak. He will calm our minds from all their questions and reconfirm our location and destination. We can ask Him to guide us into what our future includes.
The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.”
Psalm 32:8 NLT
Are you feeling a little lost and a whole lot tired?
Father, I trust your plans for my life. Help me to walk in the way you have planned for me. Guide me along the path of my purpose. In Jesus’ name, amen.
