Kissed with Hope
He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” He said, “Write, for these words of God are faithful and true.”
~Revelation 21:5 WMB
On the heels of a hard or painful season, we often need to be kissed with hope before we can move on.
The Challenge of Hope
Most of us are alike. Things have died in one of our life’s seasons. Some things passed abruptly, while others languished away. Both can be distressing and bring with them a measure of grief and sadness.
We see it in nature. Year after year, the trees blossom, and the flowers bloom and lift their cheerful faces to the sun. With time, they wither and fade away.
To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.
~Ecclesiastes 3:1 KJV
Sometimes we get stuck. Difficult seasons have a way of gluing our feet to the ground. We become trapped where we are, mired in the pain and difficulty of the past and struggling to move forward.
At times like this, what we need the most is comfort from our loving Father. When we feel loved and know that holding on to hope is not foolishness, we can finally take a breath and choose to let the past go.
The Gift of Hope
When we truly believe our Father still has a good plan for us, hope about the future kisses us. Scripture says that without a vision, people perish (Proverbs 29:18). So, let’s ask the Father to give us His vision of hope for our future. Then, may that vision become a ladder with which we may escape the dark pit that holds us captive.
Exercising our faith by stepping forward can usher in a season of change. It can transform the dead of winter into a season of freshness and promise of new life.
Ask God to help you move forward through whatever tough season you face.
Father, give me a fresh vision for my future. Take my hand, hold me close, and strengthen me to press forward in faith toward Your promise to make all things new. And as I release my grip on the past, may my heart be kissed with hope for what is yet to come. In Jesus’s name, amen.
