Julie Souza Bradley Lilly: Unshakable Hope
Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.
~Psalm 139:23 NIV
As the times we are in are heating up, our eyes search for hope and comfort.
We look over our shoulder longing for “the Good Old Days”–simpler times, old relationships and habits–people and things, that, in the past, brought momentary relief. But, more often than not, we find the fleeting well of comfort we found there has since dried up.
We have not been abandoned to fend for ourselves. God, Himself will be our refuge.
Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds his people both now and forevermore.
~Psalm 125:1-2 NIV
Beloved, let’s not wait until the world around us lies in ruins before coming to Him. Come before Him now and bring Him your burdens.
Are you ready to cast Your burdens on the Lord?
Abba Father, although the world around me is shaking, You remain as my solid foundation. I cling to You and hide in the cleft of the Rock, Jesus Christ. Fill my deepest needs with goodness from Your hand. May any fears I may have evaporate before my very eyes as I recount stories of Your power and faithfulness (see Romans 15:4). I rest beneath the banner of Your love. Breathe unshakable hope into my present and future. I lift my face and hands to You. Reach down and lift me up. Carry me secure in this season of great shaking. Speak to me from the flames of each tragedy. Bring courage to my quivering heart, and strengthen me. Help me to know You are there. I draw comfort from Your nearness. Thank You for the peace and rest I find as I hold tightly to You, my unshakable, unchanging, eternal God.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
