Irene Wintermyer: Capable Craftsmen
And He has filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom and understanding, in knowledge and all manner of workmanship, to design artistic works, to work in gold and silver and bronze, in cutting jewels for setting, in carving wood, and to work in all manner of artistic workmanship.
~Exodus 35:30-33 NKJV
My most challenging subject in high school and college was English.
When I developed a passion to write in 2013, the lack of time and mental energy to learn never took me far. Unfortunately, my heart’s desire and penmanship ability were in sharp contrast. And without proper skill, it’s difficult to succeed as a writer.
When I retired from the hospital, I took a year off to learn grammar all over again. Being a medical provider did nothing for my writing skills since we documented in incomplete sentences and acronyms. I’m not perfect by any means, but God blessed my efforts to craft words onto paper.
Then Moses called Bezaleel and Aholiab, and every gifted artisan in whose heart the Lord had put wisdom, everyone whose heart was stirred, to come and do the work.
~Exodus 36:2 NKJV
Bezaleel and Aholiab were chosen to build the Tabernacle even though they lacked skill. God gave them the gifts, knowledge, and ability to teach others what was needed to accomplish His will.
There were many other artisans involved in the project, but there is a reason these two are mentioned by name. One came from the great tribe of Judah and the other from the lowly tribe of Dan. It’s possible that through the important task of building God’s Tabernacle, He used this opportunity to reveal his impartiality towards people, making them equals.
When we allow the Spirit of God to dwell within us, change us, and impart His knowledge, wisdom, and guidance, we can accomplish anything. God doesn’t look to status, lineage, or education–only our obedience and willingness to follow His lead. There are no limits to what the King and Creator of this universe can do. I’m not saying it doesn’t come without challenges, but the desire God plants in our hearts will give us the strength to persevere in His perfect plan.
Don’t ignore the passion God places within you. It may be an immediate change or one that will prosper in time. Regardless of your circumstances or talents, if God has a plan for your life, He will equip you with everything you need.
Is there a desire in your heart that takes you outside of your comfort zone?
Heavenly Father, stir my spirit with the direction You would have me go. Don’t let my lack of skill, education, or circumstances impact my willingness to move forward—I know nothing is impossible for the Creator of the universe. In Jesus’ name, amen.
