I needed healing prayer power that perseveres when I received a text to pray for my friend’s son.

For years, Joe had a tumor, which produced fluid and pressure in his brain. The family had traveled to Texas Children’s Hospital for dozens of surgeries. But then, Joe* got another headache. The family headed to the emergency room.

Praying in Faith

 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits; Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases.

~Psalm 103:2-3 NKJV

The situation hadn’t changed for many years. Friends and I had prayed so many prayers I found it challenging to bring fresh faith to the situation. We knew of healing miracles. Still, Joe waited for his healing.

I thought of the long battle this family and many others had fought—the waits and seeming delays. I believed God, but I asked Him to help any unbelief I might still have.

At times like this, we pray for the immediate needs without losing sight of our ultimate hope for complete healing. God is not reluctant to answer us. He doesn’t expect us to be worthy or earn His answer. The provision has already been made at Calvary, where by Jesus’ stripes we were healed. We need to cling to healing prayer power that perseveres.

When We Have to Wait

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. For whom he foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His son.

~Romans 8:28-29 NKJV

When quoting Romans 8:28, but we often omit the following verse. Verse 29 is important because it names God’s purpose for every believer. We’re to be conformed to the image of Christ. God desires this beyond any work we feel led to accomplish.

Jesus always saw miracles because He had perfect authority through communion with His Father. In the same way, God desires fellowship with us. As we pursue answers to our prayers, the time we spend in the Word brings us a deeper understanding of the Scriptures which reveal God’s heart. As we listen, believe, seek, and trust, we experience more of His presence. Thus, we become more like Christ.

Do Not Grow Weary

And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.

~Galatians 6:9 NKJV

Have you prayed a long time for healing? Are you still waiting, or have you seen the answer come? Do not give up. Receive God’s encouraging promise. Know that as you pray, God’s will is being accomplished.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the victory over disease that Your Son Jesus won on the cross. Help me always to believe that Your Word about healing is true. In Jesus’ name, amen.
