Glenda Shouse: Snowflakes
For as the rain comes down and the snow from heaven, and do not return there, but water the earth and make it bring forth and bud that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth, It shall not return to Me void. But it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
~Isaiah 55:10-11 NKJV
Snowflakes are amazing as they accumulate on the grass.
Watching them float through the air, brings to mind the verse in Isaiah 55:10, “ For as the rain comes down and the snow from heaven, and do not return there, but water the earth and make it bring forth and bud that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater.”
Moisture from the melting snow is good for the soil because it enriches and nourishes, thus preparing it for the growing season. This accomplishes its purpose by providing healthy soil, allowing the plants to bud and grow and yield a good crop.
Similarly, God’s Word, when read and applied to our lives, results in growth. My spirit matures and intimacy with my Lord flourishes. The planted Word not only provides spiritual nourishment for me but also spiritual bread that I can share with others.
In verse eleven of the above scripture, we are assured that by studying and meditating on the Word, it is not without results: “So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth, it shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”
We can share God’s love by speaking His Word and leaving the results in His care. So, once I am filled with God’s Word, I must take my position as Christ’s ambassador, sharing His love with others. Are you with me? Do you too feel the responsibility not only to fill up with the Word but also to share the joy we have in our Savior’s love? Like snowflakes that enrich the soil, our influence will be impactful when we are prepared and willing to share the ingrafted Word.
Who is Jesus calling you to share His Word with? Will you do it?
Father God, thank You for Your wonderful Word that I read, meditate on, and hide in my heart. Help me to remember as I sow the Word into my heart, that You will use it to grow me and those around me as I share it. I accept my responsibility to share Christ’s love.
Amen.
