On the Right Path
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
~Psalm 119:105 NKJV
The cornstalks waved in the breeze over our heads. The challenge was to get on the right path.
The smell of fall was in the air as we made our way through the maze. We couldn’t look over the top or around the corner to see ahead. Our walk with the Lord is similar. We don’t know what’s around the corner or over the next hill. All we can do is follow the path the Lord has for us. We have His word as a lamp and light to guide us.
All through the maze, we saw signposts that offered us the right direction, but sometimes we still followed the wrong path. Likewise, God gives the Holy Spirit, who gently nudges us and directs our steps when we allow Him.
The path cut through the cornfield was rough in many places, so we watched our steps carefully to avoid tripping. Similarly, in our spiritual walk, the enemy loves to place obstacles in our way as he whispers, “You will never make it.”
But God has a plan for each of us. Psalm 37:23 reminds us that God takes delight in showing us the way: “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way.” We will make it as we follow God carefully. He will help us through the maze of life.
Friend, are you following the path the Lord has for you? Ask Him to show you the way.
Have you ever visited a corn maze? How does this remind you of your faith walk?
Heavenly Father, thank You for showing me the path You have prepared for me. Strengthen my faith to follow You, one step at a time. In Jesus’ name, amen.
