The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way.~Psalm 37:23 NKJV
I was driving home yesterday and heard a new song on the radio. I loved it. It was just what I needed to hear. Isn’t that just like God? Right on time!
A couple of days later I was going to visit a friend, who was extremely ill. I asked the Lord to allow me to hear my new favorite song. I turned on the radio, and the song I requested began playing. Our God who knows each of us by name and loves us beyond our understanding, our almighty, all-powerful Father desires to bless us. There are times He uses people to speak a word of encouragement.
At one point, I was very discouraged and allowed the issues of life to drag me down. I was not walking in the sunshine of God’s word. Perhaps you have experienced similar seasons in your life. Unexpectedly, God used a Christmas bell ringer to encourage me. With a big smile on his face, the gentleman rang the bell and greeted everyone with “Merry Christmas.” I paid little attention to his greeting as I entered the store. I was carrying the weight of the workweek, financial worries, and hurting relationships. I was not feeling the joy of the season.
He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy.~Job 8:21 NIV
Exiting the store, I dropped money into the bucket, and he said, “He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy” (Job 8:21 NIV). I knew my Heavenly Father had spoken directly to me through this gentleman. Those words felt like a breath of fresh air, emanating straight from the mouth of God. And He did what the man promised. Over the next few weeks, small events happened that filled me with the promised laughter.
Our Heavenly Father delights in blessing us in small ways, at just the right moment that speak into our hearts the encouragement we need.Glenda Shouse, contributing author to Love Knots: Stories of Faith, Family, and Friendships
God is so good to each of us, and He knows exactly what we need. His timing is perfect. Our Heavenly Father delights in blessing us in small ways, at just the right moment that speak into our hearts the encouragement we need. He does this because He loves us. We are His children, and He is our Father.
Friend, are you available to be an encourager? God has a plan; tell Him you are available, or, if you are longing for a word of encouragement, tell Him this as well. He hears you, loves you, and is willing to bless through and to you in unexpected ways.
Share an unexpected, joyous moment, God orchestrated in your life?
Heavenly Father, Your goodness and kindness are abundantly available to me, if only I will seek Your face. You love to surprise Your sons and daughters with lovingkindness. Thank You for each of your blessings to me.
I bless You, in Jesus’ Name. Amen
