Fully Forgiven
God There’s not one totally good person on earth, not one who is truly pure and sinless.
~Ecclesiastes 7:20 MSG
The enemy wants us to think that we are alone in our sin, the worst human being ever to live. He wants us to forget that we are fully forgiven.
God’s Offer
Social media presents us with snapshots of others’ lives that look pulled together. It can make us feel alone, worthless, and like a failure. So, we beat ourselves up over our past mistakes. But we can take comfort.
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
~Romans 3:23 NIV
The truth is that we are all messes. Every single one of us. We are likely acutely aware of our flaws. However, God says some wonderful things about us.
He says:
We are beautiful. – Psalm 139:14
He made us for a purpose. – Ephesians 2:10
We are His precious child. – John 1:12
He will love us forever. – Jeremiah 31:3
God chose us. – 1 Peter 2:9
He has forgiven us. – 1 John 1:9
Therefore, we need to stop listening to the enemy’s tormenting lies. His whispers strive to keep us handcuffed to failure and sins.
Our Assurance
If we have asked God for forgiveness, those sins and failures no longer belong to us. Jesus paid the debt in full for every failure. Those sins now belong to Him.
Jesus opened wide His arms upon the cross. He welcomed every sinner to come, receive forgiveness, and be free from shame. Thankfully, the same offer stands today. We can release our burden at the foot of the cross.
Believers must stand upon the Word and fight the enemy with the Word of God. We can silence his condemning taunts by declaring God’s love and our precious value. When the enemy reminds us of our sin, we can look to the cross and remember that the blood of Jesus covers every sin.
God does not want us to live with shame. God has washed us clean and covered us with Christ Jesus’s robe of righteousness. He declared us so precious that He willingly sacrificed His beloved Son on the cross so we could be with Him forever.
When we accept that we are fully forgiven, God replaces our despair and shame with overwhelming joy. We are precious, washed clean, and forgiven.
Does a rich person continue to grieve and feel shame that they were once poor? Conversely, the desperation of their past makes them joyful and grateful for the present.
Feel rich because you are fully forgiven.
Father, I thank You that I am loved completely, eternally, and without reservation. I am not a mistake. Please help me leave behind the shame of my past and embrace the joy of my full forgiveness. In the name of Jesus, the One who took my shame away, amen.
