Evelyn Mason Wells: He Is…Our Salvation and Power
And there was war in Heaven, Michael and his angels waging war with the dragon. The dragon and his angels waged war, and they were not strong enough, and there was no longer a place for them in heaven. And the great dragon was thrown down. The serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, ‘Now the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down, he who accuses them before our God day and night. And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death.’
~Revelation 12:7-11 NASB
The devil and his demons are not powerful enough to defeat our God. We should never make the mistake of thinking Satan is as powerful as God. He is not even in the same league. He and his angels made war on the archangel, Michael, and the angels under his command. Satan and his angels waged war in heaven and lost. And, most importantly, Jesus defeated death, hell, and the grave when He went willingly to die on the cross for us.
The devil not only did not defeat God, he could not even defeat God’s angels; he and his angels were kicked out of Heaven and were thrown down to earth where he is still causing havoc to reign where it can. We have a choice. We do not have to accept any of Satan’s “gifts” – gifts such as strife, selfishness, hate, lies, or anything else he sends our way.
Revelation 12:10 tells us what God’s gifts are – salvation and power, and the Kingdom and His authority. We are overcomers by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of our testimony (v. 11). This shows us we can tell of God’s goodness, only because Jesus shed His blood for us.
We should never make the mistake of thinking Satan is as powerful as God. He is not even in the same league. #VineWords @Venable-wells #HeisourSavaltionandPower Click To TweetWhen we buy into the things Satan offers us, we head in a direction away from God. He wants us to use His gifts in our daily life instead of the enemy’s gifts. We have a choice each and every day. What we choose affects eternity, not only for ourselves but for others. For instance, we can change the world around us either by causing strife in our daily lives or causing peace to rule in all we do. We do not have to be selfish; we can choose to be kind and giving to others. Hate is all around us. We see this when we turn on the nightly news, and we see tragedy after tragedy resulting from the hate in people’s hearts. We can choose to love and serve others. Lies only turn into more lies, but the truth will set us free.
The enemy roams all over the world seeking those he can devour. There is spiritual warfare being waged on our behalf. Satan wishes to destroy us; he hates us, but God desires to save us, to hold us close to Him. We know from Scripture that God loves us with an everlasting love (Jeremiah 31:3). As God redeems us and sets us free from the bondage of sin, we can overcome, with God’s help, the things we once accepted from the enemy.
Yes, there is war in the heavenly realms, a war for our very souls. Those of us who know Jesus as Savior and Lord have a great responsibility. We are to wage war for Him by praying for those who do not know God, those who have never been saved by the blood of the Lamb of God.
Time is short. We do not want anyone to perish; we want all of our friends and loved ones to accept God’s free gift of salvation. We do not want anyone to die without knowing Jesus and His love. We have the key that so many are looking for; we know the answer to the question that so many are asking. It is time to wage spiritual warfare for the lost people of this world. We are God’s warriors here on this earth.
Can you think of ways to make a difference in someone’s life today?
Dear Heavenly Father, please reveal your great faithfulness to us as we call upon You. Show us how to be more intentionally faithful in our relationships with our families and friends and in our relationship with You. I also pray for those reading this Bible study who do not know You as Savior and Lord. Please draw them to You and Your faithfulness.
I thank You and give You praise in the holy name of Jesus.
