The Quiet
As I sat by a beautiful lake, the quiet was like a blanket of serenity wrapping around me.
Water lapped against the shore, and the breeze swirled through the trees, releasing a shower of red and orange leaves that floated to the snow-dappled ground. The smell of autumn was in the air as the peace of God surrounded me. What a “Wow!” moment I experienced.
We can’t sit beside a lake every day, but we can have the peace Jesus promised. Read the promise in Isaiah 26:3 NKJV:
You wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed in You: because he trusts in You.
~Isaiah 26:3 NKJV
This reminds us to focus our thoughts and fix our minds on the Lord Jesus and all He has done for us. As we do this, we will experience this wonderful peace no matter what circumstances we face.
Even the disciples–after returning from ministering and telling Jesus all they had experienced–needed time to recover.
Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.
~Mark 6:31 NKJV
Jesus knew they needed a time of physical and spiritual renewal. And so do we.
As we fix our thoughts on Jesus, we can push aside the stress and distractions of the day. Then we are free to focus on Him, and His peace fills us.
These things I have spoken to you that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer. I have overcome the world.
~John 16:33 NKJV
Where is your favorite quiet place in nature located?
Lord Jesus, thank You for offering me Your peace that is mine simply for the asking. In Jesus’ name, amen.
