I never felt I was good enough. As a bullied, unkempt child, and having been raised by a drunken mother, none of the children on the playground wanted to be friends with me. They labeled me the smelly unwanted child. Even when I became a child of the state, other children still didn’t want to play with me and they labeled me the “foster child.”
But these thoughts faded when I gave my life to Jesus and I discovered the depth of His love. He gave me a sense of belonging because I am a child of His family.
If only we could see ourselves through God’s eyes, with no flaws, spots, or imperfections. After all, we were made in His image so we are His children. Like the loving Father He is, He loves us unconditionally. He doesn’t see us as the world sees us. He sees us complete in His love, through the blood of His Son Jesus Christ, and therefore every flaw or imperfection is erased. If only we could see ourselves through God’s eyes, with no flaws, spots, or imperfections. #VineWords #EliseCrawford #InGodsEyes Click To Tweet
Meditate on these Scriptures from John 3 and Romans 8, and see yourself through God’s eyes because He loves you!
For God so loved the world [that’s you–so fill your name in here] that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever [that’s you] believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
~John 3:16 KJV
He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? … Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? … Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
~Romans 8:32, 35a, 37a KJV
In the times of our lives that we feel broken, lost, or hopeless know that God is there. He is aware of our struggles. He deeply cares for us as individuals. He loves and believes in us even when we don’t love or believe in ourselves. He fills us with joy, hope, and love. He helps us remember that we are enough. His opinion is the only one that matters. He gives us the strength to keep pushing forward. He is our light and our joy.
Whether you’ve known God all your life or you are just getting to know Him, rest assured that He loves you. Feelings and thoughts of worthlessness aren’t true! Believe and practice the truths in God’s Word and you will become free. Live with purpose, and look for God’s plan for your life.
How does personalizing John 3:16 reassure you that you are part of God’s family?
Heavenly Father, thank You for demonstrating Your love by sending Jesus. Help me to put my trust in You and to know that You love me with an abiding, everlasting, and eternal love, for You demonstrated this through Calvary. Amen.
