Give us Christmas hearts, not just today, but all year through.

Hearts that ache for all the world to know You and be changed.

Hearts that choose obedience even when it makes us strange.

Keep us hungry for the Bread of Life that feeds our fickle minds

with truth that battles every lie the enemy leaves behind.

Keep us thirsty for Living Water that floods our dry, parched souls

with hope and peace much stronger than the enemy’s footholds.

Show us, Lord, with fresh new eyes, the wonder that is You,

as we meditate on Your Christmas names that show what You can do.

The prophets and apostles put Your wonder into words,

so our finite minds could understand and our souls would be well-stirred.

Wonderful Counselor to guide us through this maze of earthly choices.

Mighty God to fight the war against evil’s snarling voices.

Everlasting Father to shepherd, correct, and guide.

Prince of Peace to help us rest and take this life in stride.

Emmanuel, God with us, so we’ll never walk alone.

Jesus Christ, Anointed One, who saves and sins atone.

Savior of the world and precious Son of God,

King of Kings and Lord of Lords by whom we’re ever awed.

Give us Christmas hearts, oh Lord, today, tomorrow, too.

Hearts that beat in perfect time with the music that is You.
